Anand Mahindra has been regularly updating his Twitter profile with highlights from the league. Other than talking about how the idea of the league was hatched, Mahindra has shared several behind-the-scenes snippets about the tournament.

In one of his latest posts, the Chairman of Mahindra group took to the micro-blogging site to share an interesting match that took place in the league. It was the battle of the Anands!

In the post, Anand Mahindra can be seen playing with chess Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand. The five-time world chess champion and Deputy President of FIDE was seen to be quite invested in the match.

“There will be NO prize for anyone who guesses who won the matchâ€Ã¦ (But I will applaud the first person who guesses which classical opening I used),” Mahindra wrote in the caption.

 The first edition of the Global Chess League, set to take place from June 21 to July 2, 2023, will feature six teams with six players each, including a minimum of two female players and one icon player per team. The six teams will compete in a round-robin format where each team will play 10 matches.
